A New Era in the Australian Rail Industry: PRM Joins Salcef Group

PRM is pleased to announce it will become part of the Salcef Group (Salcef). Italian headquartered, Salcef which owns an elite global industrial network, with 8 operative business units and 18 operating companies, has agreed to acquire PRM subject to FIRB approval.

With Salcef’s scale and global footprint and PRM’s Pilbara built, local expertise we will see the emergence of a new era in the Australian rail industry. The merging of expertise and passion will be transformative for both companies, combining leading European technology and advanced methods together with an Australian workforce, long-standing relationships and world-class fleet.

PRM’s national reputation for delivering complex rail maintenance and construction programs will also benefit from the technical engineering and manufacturing capability of the Group, with equipment production plants in Fano and Schieppe, Italy; and multiple plants for rail infrastructure production.

Founding Director Chris Prior said, “We’ve been working closely with Salcef for more than 12 months to transform the way rail maintenance is performed in Australia. At every opportunity, we have been pushing to deliver smarter, safer solutions.

The opportunities to mechanise legacy rail maintenance processes are huge. We are talking about enhancing safety and efficiency to levels never experienced on Australian rail projects. We were going to execute these projects as a joint venture; however, as we progressed, we realised we would be more successful if we became one entity.

What originated as a small business starting out in the Pilbara is now an Australian success story. PRM will continue to operate under its brand, retaining its Pilbara name, workforce and trusting relationships, headed by founder Chris Prior and his existing leadership team.

This foundation offers Salcef a springboard to target the east coast and broader transportation markets where large infrastructure development opportunities are abundant. On the acquisition, Salcef CEO Valeriano Salciccia said, “Our strategic and commercial rationale for this acquisition was simple: PRM stood out as a first-class operator with an unrivalled safety record. They are ‘first movers’ in rail safety and innovation.”

“With the backing of Salcef, our relevance and commitment to ingenuity is guaranteed well into the future. Our people and the way we work were key drivers for Salcef entering a relationship with us. We’re excited about our future with Salcef, and the broader industry transformation with the new capabilities and capacity we will bring,” concluded Prior.

Above all, PRM acknowledge our clients and our team for their ongoing support, trust and belief in our journey.
