PRM has successfully de-stressed thousands of kilometers of track under some of Australia’s harshest conditions.

Advanced equipment – like our automated clipping and de-clipping attachments, paired with multi-purpose machinery – allows us to complete rail adjustment works with a 20% reduction in traditional resources (plant and labor), enhancing safety and reducing costs.

Supporting our rail adjustment teams and connecting a whole rail stress management solution is our VERSE testing capability. We use our own VERSE testing equipment to deliver any program completely in house, ensuring accurate data is available to our clients when they need it.

Testing

We perform in-depth rail stress testing, including VERSE testing, and analyse data to ensure accurate and effective solutions.

Welding

Using advanced flash butt welding, we adjust rail tension to the correct stress level, ensuring precise and durable connections.

Clipping & De-Clipping

Our automated equipment clips and de-clips rail sections, reducing manual labor and improving safety during rail adjustments.

Confirmation

We conduct follow-up testing to confirm the rail de-stressing was successful and the track is stable and safe.

Accurate and Efficient VERSE Testing

VERSE (Vertical Rail Stress Evaluation) is an internationally accredited tool that can non-destructively measure the stress-free temperature of continuously welded rail.  

This cutting-edge technology allows us to identify weaknesses quickly, reducing the risk of derailment or costly maintenance caused by track buckles or rail breaks. 

In the past, this was a time-consuming, expensive and often unreliable process that involved cutting the rail. By using VERSE, we can easily identify these issues, saving time and money while ensuring the highest level of accuracy.

All our rail de-stressing work is completed by our skilled, in-house Flash Butt Welding team, ensuring complete control over every step of the process.
