Pilbara Rail Maintenance (PRM), a leading provider of railway maintenance solutions, is proud to announce that it has been awarded “Highly Commended” in the Supplier Excellence Award category at the national Australasian Railway Association (ARA) awards ceremony, which took place at a gala event in Melbourne.

PRM was up against strong competition for the category, including winner Sydney Trains and fellow finalists Agonics and Mott MacDonald.

This accolade recognises PRM’s innovative smart track laying system, a ground-breaking solution that has revolutionised the rail maintenance industry.

The smart track laying system has garnered attention for its transformative impact on track maintenance, effectively reducing manual labour while enhancing precision and delivery time.

The system combines a custom-engineered sleep lug attachment with a hi rail excavator and machine-controlled guidance system. This innovative approach enables a single operator to simultaneously lift and place steel sleepers directly from the track, eliminating the need for rail surveyors and multiple rail technicians.

Notably, the system significantly enhances safety by eliminating the requirement for ground staff to operate near potentially hazardous machinery. PRM Director and Co-Founder Chris Prior commented:
