PRM’s Position on Sexual Harassment and Discrimination
PRM exists to transform Australia’s rail infrastructure for the Australian mining and transportation sectors. I take it upon myself to ensure our client’s rail networks run safely and in everything that we do, ensure our people are safe.
This purpose demands a workplace where everyone is respected and able to contribute their best. Sexual harassment, sex-based harassment and discrimination has no place at PRM.
Our motto ‘Invested In Ingenuity’, demands a culture free from fear, ignorance or complacency at every level.
We work at the heart of Australia’s mining supply chain, where production pressures and remote conditions can heighten risk, and we know that sexual harassment is prevalent in our industry. I acknowledge that we must do better to eliminate any existence of these unwanted behaviours from our profession, and as individuals, we must advocate for each other’s safety.
As part of our commitment to eliminate sexual and sex-based harassment in our workplaces, our senior leaders have committed to the following:
A culture where ingenuity can thrive
PRM workplaces—from remote rail corridors to workshops, offices and project camps—are spaces for achievement and ingenuity, not intimidation. We expect every employee, contractor and visitor to act with dignity and courtesy at all times, whether at work, in transit, online or at work-related social events
Strong governance and transparent standards
In all operations and role types, we must set the standard for what appropriate behaviour looks like. PRM’s Prevention of Sex-Based Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Policy contained in our Employee Handbook sets clear expectations and reporting pathways. It reflects Australian law and best practice from leading operators, while aligning with our own safety-first, performance-driven culture.
Active leadership in sexual harassment education and shared accountability
Leaders at every level must proactively monitor and address risk, not wait for a complaint. Through proactive promotion of gender equality and mutual respect, as well as respectful-behaviour training and refreshers for our people we are raising the awareness and understanding of our obligations and ethics, causes and risk factors.
Comprehensive response and care
We must ensure everyone is empowered to report concerns confidentially or anonymously. Bystanders who speak up help define the culture we accept. It is our duty to give confidence to our people that every report is assessed promptly and handled fairly. Support is available through PRM and our external human resources consultant Magnetic People. Retaliation or victimisation is never tolerated.
A Call to Every Person in PRM
I ask each of you to read and follow our Sexual Harassment and Prohibited Conduct Employee Education and Resource guide. Speak up if you experience or witness behaviour that falls short of our standards.
Our industry depends on people who can work with integrity and act boldly. Our workplaces are spaces for achievement and ingenuity, spaces where both individuals and the company succeed.
Together, let’s ensure our ingenuity thrives only in an environment of respect and inclusion.
